Birthstone of the Month: December Edition

Birthstones aren’t known for their dazzle and glamour for nothing. Their stunning beauty is tinged with mystique and fascination. Take a journey through the tantalizing tales and interesting history that December’s alluring birthstone contains if you and your loved ones were born in the month of December.

Do birthstones have any ruling influence on your life?

Let’s speak about the impact of birthstones on your life before we get into the mysteries and significance of the December birthstone.

Your personality and these enthralling birthstones have a particular attraction. When you view your birthstone among a sea of other stones, your eyes may glitter, and you will sense a strong connection to it. The underlying reason for this special tie between you and your birthstone is that they are linked to your astrological sign. As a result, your birthstones work to bring all of the universe’s restorative power and energy to you, making you feel elevated.

These mystic stones align with your environment by emitting a precise frequency to you. It is also claimed that your birthstones may have magical properties that promote resilience and courage, as well as bring a lot of happiness, joy, and good fortune into your life.

December Birthstones

While most months of the year typically tend to have one or maybe two birthstones, December has three. I guess you could say that the winter blues have nothing on December’s birthstones: tanzanite, zircon, and turquoise.

All three of December’s birthstones are most renowned for their stunning blue hues. These gemstones vary from the oldest on the planet to the first to be mined and used in jewelry to the most recently discovered.

The birthstones for December are generally affordable, yet their beauty matches that of valuable jewels. Colorless zircon is an excellent alternative for diamonds, tanzanite frequently replaces sapphire, and turquoise is unrivaled in its robin’s egg blue tint.

Tanzanite’s Origin

Tanzanite was first discovered back in 1967 by a group of Maasai herders in Arusha, Tanzania. They notified a prospector named Manuel d’Souza, who filed a claim for mining what he initially thought was sapphire. The crystal was then found to be a species of zoisite. Tiffany & Co. recognized the potential of this crystal and agreed to be its leading distributor after changing its name to Tanzanite.

Tanzanite’s Meaning

Tanzanite is widely thought to promote higher consciousness and increase intuition and awareness. Some people say it helps with detoxification and vigor. It is considered a nice stone to wear or keep nearby when you need a relaxing and calming presence.

Turquoise’s Origin

Turquoise was one of the first gems to be mined, and little is known about its origin. However, the earliest evidence of turquoise traces back to Ancient Egyptian tombs in 3000 BCE. Egyptians used turquoise in gold necklaces and rings, as inlay, and to sculpt scarabs. The most notable example was King Tut’s classic burial mask, which was lavishly decorated with turquoise.

Turquoise’s Meaning

The stone offers a relaxing, grounding vibration, making it an excellent stone to use when feeling overwhelmed or to help in meditation. It is claimed to connect heaven and earth and to assist you in connecting with the spiritual realm.

Zircon’s Origin

Zircon is the Earth’s oldest mineral, going back more than 4.4 billion years. It is common in most sand and sediment deposits, as well as metamorphic rocks and crystallized magma, and is found in the Earth’s crust. Blue zircon was popular throughout the Victorian era and was widely used in English estate jewelry dating back to the 1880s. While zircon is a popular gemstone among collectors due to its wide spectrum of hues, consumers appear to be more interested in the blue version and otherwise puzzled about the history and potential of this vast gemstone. Cubic zirconia is frequently mistaken for zircon (CZ). CZ is one of the most well-known man-made diamond substitutes. It is zirconium dioxide in crystalline form (ZrO2). Zircon is a naturally occurring mineral that is composed of silicate zirconium.

Zircon’s Meaning

Zircon is used to help with meditation and the development of psychic perception. It is considered to have a protective aura and to cleanse bad energy. Other attributes of zircon include the ability to attract knowledge, success, honor, and prosperity.
