Types of Cut

While nature largely determines the other qualities of a diamond, cut is where the true artwork comes into play. A master-craftsman can start with a rough stone and like Michelangelo, chisel away to reveal its true potential. Brilliance, sparkle and fire burst to life from a finely cut stone. There are many different types of cut, but they all refer to the angles and proportions of the cuts in a diamond. Thousands of hours and dollars have gone into discovering the ideal way to cut a stone in order for light to play in the most magnificent ways. Diamonds that are cut too deep or too shallow will not allow for that trademark sparkle that you’re looking for. Cut is truly the human element of the diamond creation process and is something very difficult to relay in pictures… to make the best determination, it must be witnessed in person!
